Full brand execution for award-winning landmark Oakland deli, bbq, and venue

Commercial Signage and Mural #1

Stay Gold Deli

2012

When the owner, a multi-business entrepreneur from the east coast, was in the market for interior and exterior murals that spoke to the old style bbq deli. He wanted a vintage look and feel, rooted in the Southern BBQ tradition with northeast vibes.

The project became multi-dimensional and multi-directional. First, we restored the old marquis sign, keeping the original era and gave it a branding makeover, with custom fonts inspired by the golden era of Canter’s deli in LA. Basing the project in historical significance, we then got to work on the exterior, interior, and various point-of-entry.

And then we got to work to fit out the first location, followed by the second with wall signage, exterior signage, awnings, signboards, menus, and more. Best part of this project: whether you were driving 35 mph or 75 (it is Oakland, after all, you can see Stay Gold no matter how dark your window tint is.

Josh’s expertise and professionalism (not to mention expediency) shined for our hand-painted sign work. Design-wise, he went above and beyond what we had expected, with solid and thorough communication throughout the project. He captured exactly what we wanted and needed for our business. Without question, I would hire him again for my next project.
